Helpful Pet Tips For The 4th Of July Holiday

Happy 4th of July!

The pet experts at Ask.Vet have shared some great tips to help keep your pets safe this 4th of July holiday. What is wonderful about Ask.Vet is that you can actually text licensed vets for quick advice. This is especially helpful over the holiday since the 4th is among the most dangerous holidays for pets.
One of the most frightening parts of the holiday is the fireworks for our pets. Even though we have a nice fenced area, we always bring our pets in the evening around the time for fireworks just so they feel safer. Take a moment to check your fenced area for any ways your dogs may be able to get out. It’s probably the noise of the fireworks that scares our pets, and this is likely the reason this is the most popular holiday times that pets get out of the yard.
If you know that your pet has high anxiety, it’s okay to ask for sedation from your vet. You can also ask for anxiety reducing meds like Trazodone, Alprazolam, and Sileo.
If you’re taking your pet camping, make sure they’ve got their flea and tick preventative meds. Topical meds don’t require an office visit, so don’t be lazy: pick it up before your trip.
While 85 degree temperatures might be fine for you, but it’s too hot for your pet. Keep cool water around, and steer clear of hot pavement. If it burns your hand when you touch it, it’s too hot to walk your pet!
Make no bones about it: your pet will eat discarded BBQ bones, corn cobs, and anything else you leave lying around. Clean up your trash to reduce the risk of human foods getting stuck in your pet’s GI tract and causing pancreatitis.

Opening Today At Worcester Art Museum – Radiance Rediscovered: Stained Glass by Tiffany and La Farge

This wonderful exhibition is centered on two sets of exquisite memorial windows created by Louis C. Tiffany and John La Farge. And, they have not been on view for more than 40 years, which makes this exhibition that run thru next year even more special!

Originally commissioned for Boston’s Mount Vernon Congregational Church in the late 1890’s, the large stained-glass works were donated to WAM in 1975 when the church vacated its building. The year-long exhibition opens today, June 30 with the windows by Tiffany installed in the Contemporary Gallery. The panels by La Farge, which require additional restoration, will join the Tiffany windows in late September 2018. This exhibition is the first of three pre-contemporary American art projects supported by major funding from the Henry Luce Foundation.

The Tiffany windows, titled Angel of Resurrection, show an angelic figure among a field of lilies. The La Farge panels, titled The Pool at Bethesda, depict a scene from the New Testament, in which an angel of God stirs the healing waters of the pool at Bethesda.

Update: IMS is excited to welcome back Skrillex, Alesso, Illenium Music, and Chris Lake to entertain fans at Snake Pit presented by Coors Light!

Below was previous year’s event information!

The Indianapolis 500 is just around the corner, and this year IMS will welcome DJ Hardwell,  will perform in the Indy 500 Snake Pit. In the 2013 DJ Mag Top 100 poll, Hardwell was named the world’s No. 1 DJ, and he’llll share the stage at the Snake Pit presented by Miller Lite, with DJs NERVO and Dillon Francis.

“The Snake Pit presented by Miller Lite has become an extremely popular destination for younger fans during the Indianapolis 500,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “Hardwell is one of the hottest electronic music DJs in the world and his appearance on Race Day is proof that the new Snake Pit features the hottest performers for fans who come to enjoy the music and the race. Adding NERVO and Dillon Francis to the musical line-up makes the Snake Pit a ‘must see’ event for electronic music lovers.”
Robbert van de Corput, known worldwide as Hardwell, is the owner of the leading electronic dance music label, Revealed Recordings, and the youngest DJ ever to secure the coveted Top 100 DJs award. A native of Breda, Netherlands, Hardwell has dominated recent charts with a stretch of six consecutive No. 1 hits on the Beatport Top 100. Worldwide hits include “Spaceman,” “Three Triangles (Losing My Religion),” “Countdown,” “Jumper,” “Apollo” and his highly-acclaimed collaboration with Dyro and Bright Lights “Never Say Goodbye.” Additionally, his latest chart-topping anthem, “Dare You” featuring Matthew Koma, has gained worldwide attention from both DJs and fans alike.
Top ranked female DJs and native Australian sisters Mim and Liv Nervo, known worldwide by their stage name NERVO, began their own musical careers as songwriters and first hit it big in 2009 after co-writing the global hit “When Love Takes Over” for David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. The sisters also wrote songs for Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue and Armin Van Buuren before pursuing their own aspirations as performance artists.
Dillon Francis is a Los Angeles-based electronic music producer and D.J., who has broken through the throng of young music producers. A pioneer in the moombahton genre, Francis first signed with Mad Decent, releasing his first official EP, “Westside,” in early 2011. His dancehall “Westside” and “Masta Blasta” became an underground sensation amongst the electronic dance community.

California Poppy’s Brighten Your Day On A Tour Antelope Valley

Among my favorite wildflowers is the California Poppy that’s bright orange flower rise upward toward the sky on a long green stem. It is along the western edge of the Mojave desert in Antelope Valley, California just northeast of Los Angeles where you’ll discover hillsides covered in the spectacular state flower of the aptly named Golden State.

Popular places to see California Poppy’s is Kitanemuk Vista Point, Valley Vista Point, and Antelope Butte Vista Point, where the shadier, northern slopes of the hills offer more protection from the heat.
Extra Tip For Your Trip:
If you drive in from L.A. to Antelope Valley, stop for breakfast at the mind-bogglingly retro Saugus Café that is seemingly frozen in time in 1952. If you want to make it a weekend getaway the Le Parc Suites Hotel in West Hollywood makes a great choice, with its rooftop pool, retro elegance, and convenient valet parking so you can get an early start. If you want to be closer, both Palmdale and Lancaster have a string of basic chain hotels to choose from.

One of the fun events to join  is the upcoming California Poppy Festival™ to takes place around the last weekend of April. It’s normally open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, and takes place rain or shine! There’s so much to see and do for the whole family, and includes music, activities, plenty of food, and of course, poppies.

When the poppies burst into bloom around here they blanket the hillsides in a sea of orange. It’s a beautiful site to see the state flower of California spread out across the country side as your driving. Take time to get together and enjoy the beauty and snaps some memorable photos of your trip while visiting the charming the Antelope Valley!

We Wish You All A Very Happy New Year!

Today, we take time on this last day of the year to reflect on the past year days.
We look back on the lessons we’ve learned, our accomplishments, and often set goals for the future.
We remember with fondness and love those we’ve lost.
We pray for the return of our loved ones in uniform around the world, and know that they will remain in our hearts as we move forward into the New Year.
So tonight, let go of any sadness or negativity by throwing open all your windows at midnight, or just grab a broom so you can sweep away all the sorrows of yesterday out your door as the clock chimes in the end of the year.
It’s the eve of a New Year, anything is possible with hope in our hearts, and here are some unique and festive ways to celebrate it!
