Among my favorite wildflowers is the California Poppy that’s bright orange flower rise upward toward the sky on a long green stem. It is along the western edge of the Mojave desert in Antelope Valley, California just northeast of Los Angeles where you’ll discover hillsides covered in the spectacular state flower of the aptly named Golden State.
One of the fun events to join is the upcoming California Poppy Festival™ to takes place around the last weekend of April. It’s normally open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days, and takes place rain or shine! There’s so much to see and do for the whole family, and includes music, activities, plenty of food, and of course, poppies.
When the poppies burst into bloom around here they blanket the hillsides in a sea of orange. It’s a beautiful site to see the state flower of California spread out across the country side as your driving. Take time to get together and enjoy the beauty and snaps some memorable photos of your trip while visiting the charming the Antelope Valley!
